Ramadan or Ramazan (Arabic: رمضان, Ramaḍān) is a Muslim religious observance that takes place during the ninth month of the Islamic Calendar. It is the month when the Quran was revealed and it is also the month when Muslims all over the world observe fasts.

Fasts are observed from before the break of dawn till night time. During this month Muslims seek forgiveness for past sins, refrain from eating, drinking or committing any other sins. Fasts are observed for the whole lunar months which lasts for 29 or 30 days depending upon the sighting of the moon and concludes with the Eid Celebrations.

Many cultures bring to table their own style and taste of food. People in South Asian regions are known for their love of spicy and fried food, those in Middle East and Arab regions are partial to meat. However, regardless of geographical and cultural differences dates are the one common factor in all of them which is used everywhere to open fasts, mainly because it is linked to Prophet Muhammad (SAW) who used to open fasts with dates.

Interesting post. I’m glad you actually wrote something nice about Ramadan… …I’ve been around the net for a pretty long time now, and the only thing I can read about when it comes to Ramadan is how stupid it is by muslims to fast. I’ve also started to write a bit about Ramadan. I started out my own Ramadan blog over here: http://www.ramadanonline.com Oh, and whatever you do – don’t you dare stop blogging. You’re insane when it comes to writing!
